Organic Foods

Every day we hear of another reason why organic foods are better. Their benefits just keep on coming. The increasing number of people who are aware of the environment means there is a greater demand for food which is free of chemicals and other so-called boosting agents. Markets are filled with stalls bearing such signs as “organically-grown” and “chemical free” which people flock to.

Parents want their children to eat healthy. They themselves want to eat healthy. And the crazy thing about organically grown foods is that they don’t cost the earth, they are simple and quick to prepare [instantaneous if eaten fresh as they stand] and help keep the consumer away from the ailments so many are struck down with.

So popular is organically grown food that now there are markets which specialize in selling just that material. There are even markets in Australia known as organic food markets. Find one local to you and your healthy shopping needs are covered in one shop. Of course you can buy organic foods in all kinds of markets including the ever popular farmers’ markets.

Sydney is Australia’s largest city and it has dozens of markets selling organic food and even has eight markets which are listed as organic food markets. Newcastle and other cities also have specialist organic food markets. They are becoming rather popular.

What sort of organic food is available?

The range is fantastic. The quality, it goes without saying, is brilliant. The staple in organic foods is the range of fresh fruit and vegetables. The taste is different, new and fresh. No pesticides, no artificial fertilisers and certainly no irradiation.

When it comes to meat, especially poultry and beef, people are super conscious of artificial growth hormones - non-existent in organic foods - and the need to give all animals a natural, large and healthy environment in which to live.

If you want organic foods, and who doesn’t, then market shopping is the place to go. The range of organic goodies extends to such products as honey, jams, bread and olives. An added benefit is that stall holders are often the manufacturer of the organic food or know the growers. They have a passion for their products and can give you chapter and verse on the benefits of eating organic.

Most markets have so good a supply and range of organic foods that your visit to the local market is the only place you need to go.
