Airlie Beach is a small coastal town and the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands. It is a 30km drive from Proserpine Airport, and about 310km from Townsville, the closest major town.
The Airlie Beach Community Markets were established by the Whitsunday Lions Club as a wonderful way to raise money for various charities that they support throughout the Whitsundays and Queensland in general.
It is very popular with the locals who buy their weekly fruit, vegetables and other fresh produce and catch up on the gossip. Airlie Beach is also true tourist destination with many tours, sailing & diving trips and activities happening in and around and departing from Airlie. It’s a great place for the family groups, backpackers and couples to pick up some fresh supplies, indulge in fresh mangoes and bananas local to the region. They can browse the beautifully made handcrafted gifts and goodies and sample some freshly caught seafood, or to stock up and have a delicious barbeque lunch at their leisure.
