Brisbane Powerhouse Markets is primarily a fresh food market. It also has special promotions, entertainment and chef hosted cooking classes. A colourful, big and busy market with around 100 stalls selling fresh farm produce, flowers, breads, meat, fish, poultry and other foods, it has a great atmosphere with just about everything a foodie would want in their kitchen. Organics, hydroponics, aquaculture and horticulture on show.
There are many different international foods on sale from spices, herbs, sauces, and wines. It also sells kitchen goods, plants, interesting gift ideas and knick knacks for both local and tourist alike. Tasty cheeses, wild honey, bush tucker (great for the overseas tourist to sample, which they can!), cordials, pasta, heritage tomatoes, all sorts of unique fruits and vegetables.
Unique meats such as rabbits, venison, as well as fowl – pheasants, quails, duck, chickens and eggs to match!
Each Saturday there are breakfasts and sausage sizzles on the go as well as delicious coffee crepes, warm bread, pies and rolls. Scrumptious sweets and chocolates abound. Really the best of Queensland’s fresh and beautiful produce is here in one market.
A must do for many locals each week and an absolute treat for those travelling through Brisbane to gather some lovely fresh goodies to take with them on their journey.
