Red Hill Market
This is a really picturesque part of the Mornington Peninsula and the Red Hill Market is set in its heart. It first began more than 30 years ago when about 30 growers and craftspeople got together to barter for each other’s goods. It grew from there to what it is today.
It is about 1.5 hours from the Melbourne city centre. From the Mornington Peninsula Freeway take the picturesque Arthur’s Seat Road right to the market. Early in the morning, as the sun warms up, there are queues at the food trucks as the stalls are still being setup.
There is everything you can imagine - fresh fruit and vegetables straight from the farmer’s field; freshly grown herbs, arts and craft, homemade preserves, flowers, plants, and cakes. All sorts of goods are found at one of Victoria’s oldest markets.
While you are in the area visit some of the Victoria’s finest wineries; have a picnic on the beach and enjoy the beauty and color of the area.
Entry to the market is free but there is a $3 parking fee that is donated to the local Lions Club to help people in need in the local community.
